Want to travel light when you go on vacation?
It’s always a dilemma when you go on a trip: you want to take everything with you for fear of missing out.
Result, we leave with super heavy and bulky suitcases.
Fortunately, thanks to my smart advice, you will be traveling light. Go ahead, the globetrotters!
Here is how I proceed to lighten my travel bag as much as possible:
1. Make lots of clothes, dividing them by gender
Jeans with jeans, sweaters with sweaters … And I only take one or two of each. This is how real travelers do: no frills, we’re not going to do a fashion show!
2. Roll up the clothes “maki” style
Clothes rolled up into a suitcase take up twice the space. Believe my experience, rolling your clothes is the best option, for two reasons: you avoid wrinkling them and you hardly take up any space.
3. I prefer microfiber clothes
Because they fold more easily and take up less space. T-shirt, shorts, towel, it saves space and weight!
4. I never take what I can borrow or buy on the spot
For example, sunscreen, detergent, toothpaste, mosquito repellants …
If you are traveling in a group of people, also avoid taking the same object each (a single sunscreen, a single shower gel …) and try to distribute the loads between the travelers.
5. I take samples
Eh yes ! It is while traveling that all the small samples collected from magazines or cosmetic stores can save your life. Not only do they not take up space, but in addition, thanks to their small capacity, they can be taken with you on the plane.
6. I double check what I REALLY need
Did you know that 20% of the things you take on a trip are never used during your stay?
7. When traveling, I carry the heaviest clothes with me
Either way, whether in an airport, a train station or while hitchhiking, the temperature always drops at one point or another. That’s why I always keep a sweater or sweatshirt on hand.
